Self-locking:
Security Locknuts are unique. They are designed to achieve maximum lock in any position on a threaded bolt, regardless of clamping torque achieved. If, for joint integrity purposes, maximum torque and clamp loads are desired, our torque chart represents the maximum recommended installation torques for the sizes and pitches listed.

Vibration-proof:
Loosening caused by severe shaking, vibration, or dynamic load variances have been designed out. How? The answer lies in the one-part/two-piece design. By separating the locking feature (insert) from the loading feature (nut body), Security Locknuts can overcome even the most severe vibration problems.

Security locknuts are designed so that the insert raises away from the nut body upon application, isolating it from the load. The nut body then carries the load and the insert does the locking. This is true regardless of your ability to achieve "targeted" preload.

For years, Security Locknuts have been defeating vibration, shock and high temperatures in industries where high vibration is prevalent and reusability essential. They are the only locknuts designed to never come loose when properly installed.

The elliptical spring steel insert does the job right! During engagement the elliptical insert is converted into a round condition, providing 360° of clamping action around the bolt. No additional jam nuts, lockwashers or cotter pins are necessary.

Adjustable & Reusable:
Security Locknuts can be adjusted, readjusted, removed, repositioned, and reused as often as required. Our products easily exceed any applicable Industrial Fastener Institute (IFI) standard and can be reused indefinitely. Should relaxation, joint fretting or fatigue occur, the Security Locknut can be retightened or reinstalled on another bolt.

In applications where high temperature or exposure to chemicals are factors, the Security Locknut’s all-steel construction is heat resistant up to 750° F and can be plated or coated to withstand chemical washdowns as severe as nitric acid, eliminating problems that can occur with plastic inserts or thread adhesives. Ask us about stainless and special alternatives for even higher temperature or stronger chemically based applications.
